About this guide
This document provides guidelines for Nuix Discover® hardware and system requirements for Nuix Discover servers and client computers, including the supported operating systems, applications, and browsers. It also includes a summary of major changes from the previous release of Nuix Discover.
Before you install Nuix Discover, assess and plan the hardware required for the Nuix Discover installation based on your organization's current and future needs. Depending on those needs, the Nuix Discover environment might require separate servers for the following server roles:
Web application: For the Nuix Discover application web sites, which include the user and administrative interfaces.
SQL Server database: For the SQL Server database.
SQL Server Analysis Services server: For the creation of cubes in Nuix Discover.
Content search service server: A web service that performs full text searching for the application. Required to allow keyword searches in Nuix Discover.
Hit highlight server (optional): A web server that performs the hit highlighting for viewing in Nuix Discover.
RPF: For managing job submission, displaying job status, and hosting all of the RPF worker resources.
Nuix Management Server (NMS): If licensed for Ingestions (for processing electronically stored information), you will need a Nuix Management Server to host the Nuix worker license for Ingestions. For more information about the Nuix Management Server, download the Nuix Management Server Guide from the Nuix Customer Portal. Office Online Server (OOS): For displaying files in the application using OOS.
Elasticsearch cluster and Audit log server (optional): Coding History audit data storage requires an Elasticsearch cluster and optional additional servers to host the Audit log server.
Login server (optional): For enabling third-party identity management providers for user authentication and adding two-factor authentication (2FA) for additional security.
Aspera server (optional): For faster file transfer over the Internet during file upload and file download.
