Manage text files for redacted documents and placeholders
After printing, but before exporting, you can include text files in the production for redacted documents. You must run OCR (optical character recognition) processing on the renditions of redacted documents.
Note: If you excluded text files for documents produced with a custom placeholder, you can also run OCR on those renditions to create a text file that matches the text in the placeholder image. To find these documents, perform a search for documents in which Page Label > is > Custom Placeholder.
To manage text files for redacted documents:
Search for the base documents in the production that contain the highlights or redactions you applied. For information about searching for and identifying base documents, see Work with renditions.
Select the renditions of the documents.
Submit the renditions for OCR processing. For information about OCR processing, see Run OCR processing.
Confirm that OCR processing is complete by checking the job on the Processing dashboard. For more information, see View the processing dashboard.
Tip: You can also check the Document Indexing Status field of the rendition documents.
Update the index to ensure that the new text files you created for the renditions will be exported with the other files for the production. There are two jobs associated with updating the index: Indexing Prepare and Indexing Update. For information about indexing, see Index and analyze documents.
Note: If you do not update the index, any text files that are not included in the index are not exported.
