View concept information in the Browse pane

You can view and work with concepts in the Map in a list format.

Hovering over a document or cluster in the Map reveals the top six concepts in the document or cluster. The Concepts section in the Browse pane lists all of the concepts in the current Map; the Selected Concepts section lists the concepts in the selected documents. This allows you to reorganize the Map by focusing on selected concepts or by removing unimportant concepts from the display.

The following table describes how to work with concepts using the Browse pane.

View all of the concepts in the Map

In the Browse pane, click the Concepts section.

View concepts in a cluster or a document

Hover over a cluster or a document dot in the Map. The following information appears in the tooltip:

Top six concepts in the cluster or document

Top six documents in the cluster

Number of documents in the cluster

Percent of documents coded

Select the documents that contain specific concepts

In the Browse pane, in the Concepts section, select the check box next to the concepts. For more information, see Select and filter documents. The documents are selected in the Map and appear in the Working list.

View concepts in selected documents

In the Map, select documents or clusters. In the Browse pane, click the Selected Concepts section heading. The total number of concepts appears at the top of the list, and the concepts in the selected documents or clusters are listed. The documents in the cluster also appear in the Working list.

Download a list of concepts

To download a spreadsheet (.csv file) that lists the concepts, the document counts, and whether each concept is stopped or unstopped, select from the following:

To download a list of all concepts in the current Map, in the Browse pane, in the Concepts section, click the gear button. Then click Download. Open or save the file.

To download a list of selected concepts, in the Browse pane, in the Selected Concepts section, click the gear button. Then click Download. Open or save the file.

You can also sort and filter the columns within the Browse pane sections. For example, to quickly see the most prominent concepts in the Map, you can sort the concept counts in descending order.
