Review documents in the Office Online viewer
You can review native files directly in the application using Microsoft Office Online, without having to download documents to your computer.
Note: Your administrator must enable this feature. The permissions set by your administrator determine access to this feature.
In the Office Online viewer, you can perform the following tasks:
Search for content
See formulas, resize columns, and display hidden worksheets, rows, and columns in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
View comments in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
View slide notes, slide thumbnails, and hidden slides in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation
Use standard Microsoft Office features to review content
View native files that were created in applications other than Microsoft Office
Watch video files and listen to audio files
Note: The specific Office Online features that are available depend on your organization's license with Microsoft and the portal options that are configured by your administrator.
Supported file formats for the Office Online viewer
The following file formats are supported: .123, .bmp, .csv, .doc, .docm, .docx, .dot, .dotm, .dotx, .dwg (2004), .dxf, .eml, .gif, .html, .jpg, .mht, .mhtml, .mpp, .msg, .odp, .ods, .odt, .ott, PDF, .png, .pot, .potm, .pps, .ppsm, .ppsx, .ppt, .pptx, .rtf, .tiff, .txt, .vsd, .xls, .xlsb, .xlsm, .xlsx, and .xml.
Note: The application does not support XFA-based PDF forms.
Note: The application converts some file formats to PDF and displays them in the Office Online viewer. If a file format is not supported, the application prompts you to download the file. You can then open the document with the relevant application on your computer.
View native files in the Office Online viewer
To view native files in the Office Online viewer:
Select a document.
In the View pane, click the Office Online viewer button.
Use the standard features in Microsoft Office to review content.

Note: Depending on the portal configuration, you may be able to edit documents temporarily, such as adding temporary highlights. The application does not save any edits that you make in the Office Online viewer. For information about how to add highlights, redactions, and notes to documents, see Highlight and redact documents.
