Review documents in the Map pane
The Map is a visual representation of the documents in an assignment or search result based on the similarity of concepts in the documents. Concepts are nouns or noun phrases that describe a document, such as names, places, organizations, themes, and so on.
In the Map, documents with similar concepts are clustered together. Additionally, similar concept clusters are grouped together. This means that documents with similar concepts tend to appear in the same (or adjoining) clusters, and the arrangement of clusters allows you to see these similarities.
The Map pane is shown in the following figure.
You can also work with individual documents in the Map pane, such as to search for documents or code documents.
To review documents in the Map, see the following topics.
Understand how documents are displayed and clustered visually in the Map, and learn about tasks that you can accomplish using the Map. For more information, see About the Map.
Learn how a typical reviewer can evaluate, review, and code documents using the Map. For more information, see Review strategy for reviewing documents in the Map.
Adjust the size or position of document clusters, and view or search for documents. For more information, see Navigate the Map.
Select documents and document clusters, work with concepts, and remove unimportant concepts from the Map. For more information, see About concepts and clusters in the Map,
Quickly code documents by selecting a color-coded value from a list, and periodically remove coded documents from the Map to make it easier to review uncoded documents. For more information, see About coding and sweeping documents in the Map.
Review, code, and work with selected documents in the Map using the Working list. For more information, see Review documents in the Working list.
Comparing the Map feature with mines
The Map feature is similar to mines, but the features have the following differences.
Mines provide a macro view of a set of documents that are stored in a binder. The Mine Map can contain any number of documents.
The Map provides a micro view of a set of documents that is most often created through a search. You can code documents on the Map. The Map can display up to 10,000 documents at a time.
For information about mines, see Analyze document content using mines.
